Denim Vests & Chambray

I always have trouble putting my style into one word when asked, but I have finally come up with an acceptable answer: eclectic. I love incorporating old with new, cheap with expensive. This denim vest is one of those old cheap finds, I found it thrifting, and it’s from GAP circa 2000. It’s definitely going to be a staple in my spring and summer wardrobe, and it cost me a mere $3. Thrifting is where I have found some of my most beloved and unique items, and it’s always a great place to find denim. Altering denim is also a fun project, so if you find an old jacket that fits your torso snug but the arms are a little tight, why not cut it? Denim is one of the few things that looks good cut and distressed.

For this outfit I paired the vest with a long sleeve chambray dress. I love the look of the ‘soft denim’ dress with the hard denim vest. It gives the dress more character, and changed it from being a little matronly to stylish and young. Chambray and denim is going to be another one of those things I see myself wearing a lot of this year, it just works. For my hair I was inspired by Shosh from Girls. She always has the most outrageous hairdos, but I’ve always loved her oversized buns smack dab in the middle of her head. Also check out my beautiful and chic Stella & Dot arrow bracelet, it could be something you could win during a giveaway in the near future 😉
