Day 2 of our Napa adventure started out waking up to a beautiful view, packing our bags and making a pit stop at the Market where we got some delicious smoothies and snacks. We then made our way to Domaine Carneros Winery, which happened to be no more than a mile down the road. We pulled into a beautiful chateau and were part of a 11 am wine tour.
We had a wonderful English tour guide, who shared some cool facts with us outside among the vines, and then proceeded to take us inside to cool down and start some sparkling wine tasting (it was 97 degrees out!). We got to see where the wine is stored for several years and learned more about the winery; which is the US extension of Champagne Tattinger. Next it was onto the cellar where we tasted some Pinot Noir, learned about the riddling process and saw workers doing their thing. Lastly the group got to sit down at cafe style tables with some cheese and fruit plates as we tasted more wines and had an open question, conversation, and tasting. We sat next to a lovely older couple from Pennsylvania, who informed us of 2012 wine being a really good wine year, and to get our hands on some if we could. We loved it so much we shipped ourselves home several bottles of Champagne & Pinot Noir to share with friends and family at home!
Before saying farewell to Napa we decided to venture downtown to have lunch at Melted , a unique sandwich shop with delicious Gluten Free options. We sipped on Rose Lemonade, enjoyed our food outside, and took in some sights of the little town. It was a great afternoon followed by a fun drive down to Pebble Beach to make it to dinner with Teddy’s family. I can’t wait to return to Napa and discover even more of what it has to offer.
