Stepping out of your car and into the Bay To Breakers race at 8 am on a Sunday morning is quite the introduction to San Francisco. If you don’t know what that is, pretty much the entire city shuts down for a race in the early morning hours, that later turns into an all day event for others. People dress up in crazy collaborative costumes, party with their friends & walk the course which goes from the Bay to the Pacific Coast. The streets become a sea of people, all out to have a good time and show love for their city. Houses along the way host passing travelers, blast music into the streets, and are a great cause to stop for some dance breaks. We literally got to walk across San Francisco on a beautiful afternoon with a few old friends and a ton of new ones. It gave me such a sense of community and made me fall in love with the city instantly. My outfit was a last minute Katniss effort, if I could do it again I would definitely go all out. If you are one of those people who wants an extensive bucket list, this event should definitely be a part of it. I got to see San Francisco at it’s absolute best. I wish I had more pictures, but I was too busy having an experience of a lifetime, check out more about it here.
